Local food should reflect the people of a place, just as much as the ingredients of a place.
On October 4, meet some of the people who are cooking local food in Houston. People who have inspired dishes in Chris’ restaurants, people who are featured in his upcoming cookbook, aptly titled “Cook Like a Local,” people who represent the best of Houston food.
To celebrate the 5th annual Southern Smoke Festival, Chris is inviting you to dinner with his friends. Some friends will be cooking, and some friends—in town to cook at the Southern Smoke Festival on Sunday, October 6—will be dining alongside you, enjoying the bounty and diversity of Houston food. And Chris will also be cooking dishes for each course, inspired by the friends cooking with him. He’ll take you on a food tour of Houston at a single destination: the historic Manor House on the grounds of The Houstonian Hotel, Club & Spa.
Join us for great food and wine and even better company, benefiting the Southern Smoke Foundation to help us take care of our own.

About our friends
Saigon Pagolac: One of the oldest Vietnamese restaurants in the city. Go for an interactive, family-style experience. Jacklyn Pham is a true friend and has taught me so much about Vietnamese food.
Al Aseel: They serve arguably one of the best baba ghanoush that I’ve tasted, along with their fire-roasted breads. The standout dishes: anything grilled over live fire.
London Sizzler: My Indian family. This restaurant is one of my favorite places to eat, and the masala bhindi might be my favorite dish in the city.
Manor House at The Houstonian Hotel, Club & Spa: The perfect venue for a dinner celebrating Houston. Designed in 1955 by Houston architect John Staub, it served as a home for President George H.W. and Barbara Bush during his time as CIA director and Vice President.
Special thanks to the Manor House at The Houstonian Hotel, Club & Spa, Krug (Moët Hennessy), Hirsch Vineyards, Von Winning (Skurnik Wines) and Zorah Wines.
