Support Food + Beverage Workers Affected by the Texas Hill Country Floods

Our hearts are with everyone in the Texas Hill Country.

Southern Smoke provides financial relief during the recovery phase of disasters. We’ve committed $150,000 to support affected F+B workers and are prepared to do more. Sysco will match up to $15,000 in donations to amplify our impact.

The Hill Country Relief Fund application will open August 15. For urgent needs like medical or funeral expenses, F+B workers can apply now through our existing relief fund. Our Behind You program also offers no cost counseling to F+B workers.

WHERE WILL I BE COOKING:

Zachary is from Upstate New York and Hannah from Houston, Texas. They both share an infinite love for farmers markets, fine dining, camping, and cross country road trips. Their adventure started while working together in the kitchen at Husk Charleston in 2015, and they haven’t stopped grooving since. From the South Carolina coast to the waters of the Caribbean — Hannah and Zachary spent a year and half working in the Yucatán. Their time spent working at Hartwood and Husk solidified their love for wood burning ovens, bright & bold flavors, fresh produce and simplicity. Zachary and Hannah moved back to beloved Charleston to open WELTONS FINE FOODS, a mobile wood-fired pizza concept that celebrates the grains, produce, farmers and fishermen of the low country. In late 2022, they opened WELTONS TINY BAKESHOP in downtown Charleston, an extension of their mobile concept which focuses on naturally leavened baked goods that continues to hone in and celebrate heirloom grains, tiny sourdough loaves, European style pastries, and laminated doughs.
