Alex Sambvani is the Chief Executive Officer and Co-Founder of Slang AI, the first company to build AI solutions specifically for the hospitality industry. Slang’s flagship product is an AI host that answers phone calls for restaurants and can manage reservations from end to end, facilitate private events, and answer common questions that guests frequently call about. Today, Slang is the global leader in voice AI for restaurants, serving more than 1,500 restaurants across the U.S., Canada, and Australia.
Since founding the company in 2019, Alex has led Slang AI from inception to a thriving business of 50 employees that has been recognized with major awards, including Fast Company’s Most Innovative Companies in Dining (2024) and Business Insider’s Top AI Startups to Watch (2024).
Alex brings a decade of professional experience in AI. He began his career at Credit Suisse in private equity investing before transitioning into technology. At Spotify, he worked as a Data Scientist, where he spearheaded the development of product features that reached more than 100 million users worldwide.
Alex holds a degree in Mechanical Engineering with concentrations in Applied Mathematics and Computer Science from Stanford University, and an MBA from Harvard Business School, where he received academic honors.
