Support Food + Beverage Workers Affected by the Texas Hill Country Floods

Our hearts are with everyone in the Texas Hill Country.

Southern Smoke provides financial relief during the recovery phase of disasters. We’ve committed $150,000 to support affected F+B workers and are prepared to do more. Sysco will match up to $15,000 in donations to amplify our impact.

The Hill Country Relief Fund application will open August 15. For urgent needs like medical or funeral expenses, F+B workers can apply now through our existing relief fund. Our Behind You program also offers no cost counseling to F+B workers.

WHERE WILL I BE COOKING:

The Houston native graduated from Le Cordon Bleu in Austin, TX and spent her formative culinary years being a part of the opening teams for Houston’s legendary Pass and Provisions, Cloud 10 Creamery, and Common Bond.

Au’s passion led her to Los Angeles to work under Chef Chris Ford at the Beverly Wilshire Four Seasons Hotel. During her time in LA, she found a love for creating unforgettable experiences for guests, catering high profile parties, and participating in LA Food & Wine. She made her way to the newly opened Four Seasons Philadelphia as the Pastry Sous for their Jean Georges restaurant.

However, the pandemic would eventually bring her back home to Houston. Eager to reconnect with her craft, she used the lockdown to start her own pastry pop up, establishing herself and her signature pop tarts at local coffee shops and night markets. Her pastries quickly gained a following and notable local recognition. She was nominated by CultureMap Tastemakers in 2021 in the Best Pop Up category and went on to win Tastemakers 2022 Pastry Chef of the Year.

Today, she heads the pastry program at Blacksmith and the Greenway concepts as their Pastry Chef where she leads their wholesale bakery program while supplying her signature baked goods across the city at their various locations.
