For us to help, we need help.

From wildfires in Hawaii to hurricanes across America, and every crisis in between, Southern Smoke Foundation is there for food and beverage workers. We keep families safe in their homes. We keep the lights on for thousands. We keep the industry moving.

But for us to grant emergency relief funds to our applicants, we need funding, too.

Please donate to Southern Smoke Foundation. On average, we’re granting $3,400 to each F+B worker we serve.

Help us help someone today.

Gatlin’s BBQ
WHERE WILL I BE COOKING AT:

Greg Gatlin, Chef/Owner opened Gatlin’s BBQ in the Heights with his mother and father in June 2010. Gatlin and his parents have owned and operated the BBQ outfit for 12 years now.  The Gatlin brand has become a staple in the Houston barbecue scene.  Gatlin’s menu reflects traditionally Texas BBQ, classically southern cuisine, as well as global flavors with a twist.  In 2013, 2017, and 2021 (Honorable Mention) Gatlin received a spot on the coveted Texas Monthly Top 50 BBQ Joints. In 2015 Gatlin closed the 19th St store and reopened in the current location on Ella Blvd. The same year he also opened a partnership downtown called Jackson St. BBQ with restaurateur Bill Floyd. Greg also consulted for OTG (airport food & beverage operator) on the Q Smokehouse project in the IAH Airport. Recently in 2021 Gatlin’s BBQ was featured on the Netflix documentary, High on The Hog. The documentary is a dramatic educational masterpiece of the African American influence on food in America starting with Transatlantic Slave Trade. Along with some of these accolades Greg and his family are active participants in their local communities as well. Greg has served 2 terms on the Greater Houston Restaurant Association Board and also received the coveted Golden Fork Award in 2016. In 2022 the Gatlin brand will expand with the opening of Gatlin’s Fins & Feathers. This concept will feature seafood and poultry dishes with strong to ties the gulf coast and beyond. The small boutique operation will serve as a neighborhood cornerstone eatery for Independence Heights, Garden Oaks, and Oak Forest.
